Welcome to the Ashbourne Shire Horse Society Website
Saturday 21 August 2010 will see Ashbourne Show take place in the picturesque Derbyshire village of Osmaston
The Show is held on a former polo field that formed part of the parkland grounds of the old Osmaston Manor. Situated only two miles from Ashbourne on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park, the ground is easily accessible and well sign posted with ample parking.
This traditional country show is one of the few ‘real country shows’ to take place and this year boasts its’ 119th anniversary. The event is organised by the Ashbourne Shire Horse Society, a group of volunteers, whose main objective is to develop and promote the show for the enjoyment of the local community and the many thousands of visitors to the region.
On show will be the best of a wide range of animals including the majestic Shire Horse, prize cattle, sheep and goats, whose owners will be focused on winning the first prize. The very popular Light Horse Section of the Show will, once again, include a number of classes which are qualifying rounds for the Horse of the Year Show. New for 2010 will be an exhibition displaying the best of our feathered friends – hens, ducks and cockerels will all be preening their feathers vying for the winner’s rosette.. All this plus country crafts, local produce and a variety of agricultural stands offer the many visitors a real taste of rural life.
