The Light Horse section of Ashbourne Show goes from strength to strength annually. We listen to our competitors and try to introduce classes that appeal to all levels.

The main ring begins at 8am with the Horse of the Year Hunter classes and they are followed at 11amwith Private Driving classes, we have been extremely privileged to have been awarded Horse of the Year qualifiers for our driving classes. The main ring also hosts Horse of the Year qualifiers for both Heavy Horse Ridden and Shire Inhand qualifiers during the afternoon.

New for 2018 we have introduced open inhand classes for both ponies and horses, offering another class for any exhibits to compete in. Our hack classes have been kindly sponsored by Su and Steph Beardmore, and they are generously giving rosettes to 10th place and sashes to both Champion and Reserve.

We are also offering National Pony Society qualifiers for all the Mountain and Moorland sections, they include inhand, ridden and working hunter, enabling competitors to qualify for the NPS 2019 summer championships nice and early. We are very happy to also be hosting Race Horse to Riding Horse classes, both inhand and amateur qualifiers.

Ashbourne Show offer classes to cater for all levels of showing, from local riders, kindly sponsored by Vivienne Hodgson of Eques-train who is generously giving vouchers to working hunter classes including training stakes, novice riding horses, hunters and riding clubs show horse classes, inhand horses and ponies, all open to anyone. We also host several inhand sections, the Mountain and Moorland supreme inhand championship is kindly sponsored by Meynell Saddlery.

We offer a fun family day out for everyone, and try our best to host a great show, with a friendly atmosphere for all to enjoy, whether competing, coming to support friends and family, or on a day out.
